Sylvie Vàng Jacquemin grew up near the wild forests of the Ardennes, in northeast France, having close connection to nature and her European/Asian ancestry. After studies in pharmacy leading to a doctoral thesis on Computer Graphics in Scientific Films, Jacquemin went to the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design, where she graduated in Computer Graphics and Film. After nine years in America, directing and shooting commercials and music videos, she chose documentary as a new career path. Today she lives in France, but continues to develop documentary projects in the US – many of which are on Native issues in collaboration with Native co-authors and film-makers – and more recently in Vietnam.

Sylvie Demaine has a long editing experience, having worked on  documentaries and short programs for French television for almost 30 years. In that time, she has edited news reports, dramas, historical narratives, as well as films dealing with exploration and discovery, adventure and cultural topics including several artists portraits.    She collaborated to famous shows such as  Arte reportage, Thalassa, Faut pas rêver, Strip Tease. In addition, Demaine participated in  dozens  of corporate films, for both  internal and external use. Once having mastered a wealth of technical details, she honed the delicate craft using her cutting expertise to advance story-telling.
